EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE VACANCY

POSITION: DIRECTOR, CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION

LOCATION: Yuba College, Marysville Campus

SALARY: Range 11 – (ESA Salary Schedule)

BENEFITS: The District offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees and dependent, valued at over $24,000 annually with a $310.50 monthly out of pocket expense to employees or dependents for monthly premiums. The package includes health, dental, vision, two (2) life insurance policies and an Employee Assistance program. Additional benefits include contributions to the State Teacher’s Retirement System (STRS), 457/403b options, 12 sick days, 22 vacation days, 223 day/12 month contract.

COMMENCING: Fall 2017

CHANGE-ORIENTED QUALITIES: The Director of CTE, under the direction of the Dean of Applied Academics will work with both internal and external constituents. They will be responsible for providing leadership and have direct responsibility for the administrative decision-making processes directly relating to the educational programs in CTE including but not limited to programs in Accounting, Agriculture, Automotive, Business, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Manufacturing, Welding, and Veterinary Technician. This director will also have responsibility for the development initiatives that may include but not limited to Strong Workforce, Doing What Matters, CTE Transitions, Carl D. Perkins Act, California Career Pathways Trust Grant, CCC Maker, Federal, State, accreditation, and local accountability, local workforce needs, CTE related grants, and apprenticeships. The director also facilitates CTE and Workforce Development program development and implementation across the college in both credit and noncredit programs ensuring that program outcomes address the college’s Strategic Plan, support student success, and respond to the dynamic workforce needs of the local industry.

Willingness to Take Significant Risks to Advance Student Success. Under the direction of the Dean of Applied Academics, the Director will connect the institutional strategies driving student access and success within Student Services and Instructional operations.

The Ability to Create Lasting Change within the College. Under the direction of the Dean of Applied Academics, the Director will be committed to identifying disproportionate student outcomes based on factors such as race, ethnicity, and gender, and then mobilize the College to improve results through established planning protocols.

Strategic Vision for the College and Its Students. Reflected in external partnerships under the direction of the Dean of Applied Academics, the Director will plan to leverage the institution’s influence and resources to pave the way for ongoing student access and success.

Raise and Allocate Resources in Ways Aligned to Student Success. Under the direction of the Dean of Applied Academics, the Director will support resource development activities to achieve significantly improved student outcomes leading to well-designed, sustainable, scalable institutional changes.

Essential Duties Summary

REQUIRED DIRECTOR OF CTE COMPETENCIES:

1) College-wide leadership to all established CTE programs and those offerings that might be established.

2) Manage the department budget.

3) Supervise all academic employees and classified staff assigned to the unit department, including assignment and workload.

4) Provide first administrative contact for the resolution of complaints and grievances.

5) Provide for scheduling of all assigned academic employees and classified staff.

6) Participate in college-wide scheduling of classes and programs, facilitating dual enrollment classes within the department with area high schools.

7) Ensure that Program Reviews, and Program Updates, are conducted by all program faculty within the unit department and submitted on time.

8) Coordinate unit department faculty and equipment requests.

9) Develop, maintain, review, evaluate, promote, and report on all programs and curriculum offered within the unit.

10) Call and preside over regular department and special meetings, providing an agenda and prompt minutes to faculty, staff, and administrators.

11) Serve as the representative of department concerns and needs and communicate both individual and collective concerns to the Dean.

12) Manage and/or write grants as assigned.

13) Participate as a regular member of the management group, attending and chairing committees and councils as assigned.

14) Perform related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for Educational Administrators at California Community Colleges: (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications must be from accredited institutions.)

•Possession of a Master’s degree; AND
•One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator’s administrative assignment.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Experience in academic planning, program development, and supervision
•Teaching experience in higher education
•STC Core Coordinator Training
•Working knowledge of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI)
•Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of Community College students
•Bilingual in English and Spanish
•Three to five years of executive administrative experience in increasingly complex positions and demonstrated experience in valuing diversity are strongly preferred, higher education preferred
•Doctoral degree from an accredited institution
•Knowledge of the ACCJC Accreditation regulations
•Knowledge of the California Education Code and Title 5

Range/Step Range 11, Educational Supervisors Association Salary Schedule
Salary Range $84,337 - $120,171/YR.
